2016 Reiter Young Stars winners, Marko Helistekangas and Caitlin Wood, switch to the Blancpain Endurance Series with Tomas Enge joining the #24 Reiter driver lineup.

Reiter Engineering can confirm that

it is transferring the #24 Reiter Young Stars Lamborghini Gallardo R-EX entry from the Blanpcain Sprint Series to the Blancpain Endurance Series.

To comply with the Endurance Series regulations the team will now field three drivers; moving from the Silver Cup to the Pro Cup as Tomas Enge returns to the Endurance Series joining Caitlin Wood and Marko Helistekangas to form the Platinum/Silver/Silver trio.

The Reiter Young Stars entry will compete at the 1000 km of Paul Ricard and the season finale at the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona.

Enge joins the 2016 Reiter Young Star Champions to help the pair develop as drivers in their rookie GT3 season. Wood and Helistekangas have already enjoyed a podium in the Blancpain Sprint Silver Cup at the opening round of the season at Misano. Enge’s role in the squad will also see him act as driver coach, a role which he has been very effective in for the Reiter Young Stars Series. Enge was pivotal in the development of Wood and Helistekangas during the 2016 Reiter Young Stars season and so his support in GT3 fits in well with the project.

Enge quote “The primary reason for my return to GT3 racing is to aid the development of Marko and Caitlin in GT3. I will be racing the Lamborghini Gallardo R-EX in the GT Open races at Spa-Francorchamps with Craig Dolby which should help me prepare for my return to the Blancpain Endurance. The plan then is to race at Paul Ricard and Barcelona and share my experiences, knowledge and car feedback with both drivers to close the gap to the top guys racing in GT3 at the moment.”

Reiter quote “Getting young drivers into GT3 is the main aim of the Reiter Young Stars. With the Blancpain Sprint Series, the intensity is so high that even just a small error can lead to an early finish for the weekend which is not how we want our drivers to learn about racing in GT3. I feel we could see more competitive results in the Endurance Series. Having Tomas Enge racing in the same car should ultimately help Marko and Caitlin as he can be an effective driver coach for them over the race weekend. I would like to pass on my thanks to Stephane Ratel and the SRO for supporting this entry transfer.”
